Blank org chart template

A blank org chart is useful when a ready-made industry structure would add roles your organization does not have. Start with an empty canvas, add positions from the top down and keep each reporting line tied to an actual responsibility.

Build from the top down

Add the organization head or team lead first, then create direct reports and their teams. Use role titles before names if the chart is for workforce planning. Add departments only when they help readers scan the structure.

Keep the chart useful

Show direct managers with solid lines. Add a dotted-line manager only for a real secondary relationship, and mark unfilled roles as vacancies. For a wide structure, create a focused view for each team rather than shrinking every label.

Share the finished chart

You can export PNG, PDF or CSV on Free (PNG and PDF carry a watermark); SVG, PPTX and single-department or subtree exports need Project Pass or Pro. A saved chart can also be shared as a read-only link. Review sensitive personal information before sharing beyond your team.
