Frequently asked questions
How do I make an org chart from Excel?
Open the editor, choose import and drop in your .xlsx or CSV file with one person per row. Check the column matching, read any fixes, and your chart is built with automatic layout.
Do I need an account?
No. You can open the editor and build your chart right away. An account is only needed to save charts and share them.
What is included for free?
Up to 25 people per chart and 3 saved charts. Exports carry a small watermark and share links show a “Made with mivochart” badge.
Can I import my staff list?
Yes. Upload an Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file with one person per row. Columns are matched for you, and you can check and fix everything before it is added.
Can I use a Personio or BambooHR export?
Yes. Export the employee list as a spreadsheet and import it. The usual columns are recognised in English, German and French. Live connections to those tools are not part of the product.
How do I update the chart when people join or leave?
Import the new list over the existing chart. You see a summary such as “3 joined, 2 left” first, and your styling is kept.
Which export formats are available?
PNG, PDF and CSV on every plan; the PDF fits the whole chart on one A4 or Letter page. A Project Pass or Pro adds SVG, PowerPoint, and print options: A3 and Legal paper, poster tiles, one page per department, and exporting a single department.
Can I export to PowerPoint or print on A3?
Yes. PowerPoint export and print-ready PDF (A3, poster tiles, one page per department) are included with a Project Pass or Pro. Free charts can export PNG, CSV and a PDF on A4 or Letter; SVG also comes with a Project Pass or Pro.
Can I show open positions and part-time headcount?
Yes. Mark a position as open, and see headcount and FTE totals for each team.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. You can view, search and make edits on a phone or tablet. Larger charts are easier on a bigger screen.
Which languages does it support?
The site and the editor are available in English, German and French.
Where is my data stored?
Saved charts are stored in the EU, in Frankfurt. Charts you have not saved stay in your browser. Your data is never sold.
What do the Project Pass and Pro cost?
The Project Pass costs €39 once and runs 90 days, with no renewal. Need more time? Add 30 days for €15 while it runs or up to 14 days after it ends. Pro costs €8 per month, billed yearly (€96).
Is this a subscription?
The Project Pass is not. You pay once and it ends after 90 days; the 30-day extension is a one-time payment too. Pro is a yearly plan you can cancel any time in two clicks. Both come with a 14-day money-back guarantee.
Pass or Pro?
One project: the Project Pass. A chart you share and update all year: Pro.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Pro ends at the close of the paid year and does not renew. The Project Pass never renews, so there is nothing to cancel.
What happens when my Pass or Pro ends?
Nothing is deleted. You can still open every chart, see it in full and export it as PNG or PDF with the watermark. Charts above the free limits become read-only, and embeds and password links pause. Up to 14 days after a Project Pass ends you can extend it by 30 days, or switch to Pro at any time.
