Features
From staff list to a chart people actually read
Everything below is live in the editor today.
Import that understands your file
Drop in an Excel or CSV file. Column names in English, German or French are recognised, and so are exports from Personio and BambooHR. If something is off, you get a fix in plain words, not an error code.
- Columns matched for you, easy to change
- Unknown managers, duplicates and loops explained and fixed
- Extra columns kept as custom fields
Update the chart, keep your design
When people join, leave or move, import the new list. You see a summary first, like “3 joined, 2 left”, and your colours, cards and layout stay as they are.
- See what changes before you apply it
- Styling and manual choices are kept
- One click to undo
Automatic layout that handles real structures
Reporting lines are arranged for you. Show each team as a tree, a list or a grid, add assistants beside their manager and draw dotted-line reporting where one person has two managers.
- Tree, list or grid per team
- Assistants and staff positions
- Dotted-line managers
Make it look like your organisation
A full styling toolbar sits next to the chart. Set your brand colours and fonts, pick a card style, copy a look from one card to others with the format painter and lock finished parts so they stay put.
- Brand colours, fonts and card styles
- Format painter
- Lock cards in place
More than names and titles
Add your own fields such as location or start date. Mark open positions, see headcount and FTE totals per team, and add photos, including a bulk upload that matches pictures to people by file name.
- Custom fields
- Open positions, headcount and FTE totals
- Photos with bulk upload by file name
Export and share in the format you need
Download PNG, SVG, PDF or CSV. The PDF fits the whole chart on one page. Share a link when you want others to look without installing anything.
- PNG, SVG, PDF and CSV today
- Share links
- Print-ready PDF in A3 and Legal, poster tiles, one page per department and PowerPoint (with a Project Pass)
And the small things that save time
- Search with highlight
- Free text on the canvas
- Multi-select and align

Which tool for which job
Org charts can be drawn in many tools. Here is an honest look at what each one is good at.
PowerPoint
Great forShowing a small chart inside slides you already have.
Keep in mindYou type or paste names and arrange the boxes yourself, so a reorganisation means redrawing.
Visio
Great forDetailed diagrams in a Microsoft 365 environment, including an org chart wizard.
Keep in mindIt needs a Visio licence and some learning time, which is a lot for a one-off chart.
Lucidchart
Great forGeneral diagramming with real-time collaboration and CSV import.
Keep in mindIt is a general diagram editor, and its free plan limits documents and shapes. Check the current limits for bigger charts.
mivochart
Great forOrg charts from a staff list, in your language, with nothing to sign up for.
Keep in mindIt does org charts only. For flowcharts or network diagrams, a general diagram tool fits better.

Answers
Questions people ask
How do I make an org chart from Excel?
Open the editor, choose import and drop in your .xlsx or CSV file with one person per row. Check the column matching, read any fixes, and your chart is built with automatic layout.
Do I need an account?
No. You can open the editor and build your chart right away. An account is only needed to save charts and share them.
What is included for free?
Up to 25 people per chart and 3 saved charts. Exports carry a small watermark and share links show a “Made with mivochart” badge.
Can I use a Personio or BambooHR export?
Yes. Export the employee list as a spreadsheet and import it. The usual columns are recognised in English, German and French. Live connections to those tools are not part of the product.
How do I update the chart when people join or leave?
Import the new list over the existing chart. You see a summary such as “3 joined, 2 left” first, and your styling is kept.
Which export formats are available?
PNG, PDF and CSV on every plan; the PDF fits the whole chart on one A4 or Letter page. A Project Pass or Pro adds SVG, PowerPoint, and print options: A3 and Legal paper, poster tiles, one page per department, and exporting a single department.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. You can view, search and make edits on a phone or tablet. Larger charts are easier on a bigger screen.
Where is my data stored?
Saved charts are stored in the EU, in Frankfurt. Charts you have not saved stay in your browser. Your data is never sold.
